Unity Bank Board & Executive Team Help America’s Grow-a-Row Harvest 52,000 Servings of Fresh Produce

CLINTON, N.J. (October 16, 2023) – The Unity Bank executive team and Board of Directors recently took to the fields at America’s Grow-a-Row (AGAR), helping to harvest 13,000 pounds of tomatoes and peppers, along with other volunteers, that will provide 52,000 servings of healthy produce to those struggling with food insecurity.

“We are always impressed by Unity Bank’s dedication to helping those fighting hunger, but this is the first time a company’s Board of Directors has volunteered at the farm,” said AGAR President and Founder Chip Paillex. “Unity has been donating their time and resources to America’s Grow-a-Row for seven years and they are clearly very committed to helping people battling food insecurity. Unity Bank truly exemplifies what it means to be a socially responsible organization.”

Unity annually donates $25,000 to AGAR as the lead sponsor of the Pittstown non-profit organization’s Farm to Fork Volunteer program, supporting the activities of 10,000 volunteers. The 13,000 pounds of produce the bank and other volunteers recently harvested has been donated to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, which provides produce to hundreds of agencies statewide serving those in need.

“America’s Grow-a-Row is an incredible organization that provides valuable assistance to families battling hunger not only in New Jersey, but 20 states nationally,” said David D. Dallas, Chairman of the Unity Board of Directors. “All of our Board members consider it a privilege to support AGAR with both our resources and our time. Being out on the farm with Chip and his team could not possibly be more rewarding and we appreciate the opportunity.”

AGAR this year expects to donate a record 3 million pounds of fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables that are donated to people facing hunger.

“Unity Bank is proud to support America’s Grow-a-Row and its commitment to fight hunger,” said Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes. “Our team’s hard work in the fields several times every year, as well as the work of thousands of other volunteers, helps to provide access to fresh fruits and vegetables for people in need. We appreciate the tremendous work of AGAR and look forward to many more successful days harvesting fresh produce for the community.”
